Anastasia Sysoeva Wins Best Short Oral Presentation Award 2025 for Advances in Extracellular Vesicles and Male Fertility

Anastasia Sysoeva, from the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology, has received the Best Short Oral Presentation Award 2025 at the 2nd World Congress on Targeting Extracellular Vesicles, held in Valencia, Spain.

The award recognizes her presentation titled “Extracellular Vesicles and Male Fertility: Enhancing Sperm Cryotolerance,” which addresses a critical challenge in reproductive medicine and assisted reproduction.

Sysoeva’s research demonstrates that extracellular vesicles derived from seminal plasma play a key role in protecting sperm cells during cryopreservation, particularly in men with infertility. Her findings show that these seminal plasma derived extracellular vesicles significantly enhance sperm survival by preserving mitochondrial function, maintaining membrane potential, and improving post thaw motility.

By strengthening sperm resilience to freezing and thawing processes, this work points to new strategies for improving the outcomes of assisted reproductive technologies and long term gamete cryostorage. The study highlights extracellular vesicles as biologically active agents with direct clinical relevance, rather than passive components of seminal fluid.

The Best Short Oral Presentation Award 2025 recognizes concise, high impact research with clear translational potential. Anastasia Sysoeva’s work stands out as a promising advance toward improving male fertility treatments and optimizing reproductive outcomes through extracellular vesicle based approaches.
